10th October 2010
Kite surfing: Ynyslas - estuary
Wind Direction: E
Wind Stength: 12-28
Surf / Sea State: choppy
Air Temperature: 12-15
Sea Temperature:
Weather: cloud -> sunny
Max Speed: 27kts (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 59.7km (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Same as yesterday and friday. On the water at 8.50 an hour or so before high tide to allow enough beach for self launch (9m kite). Even in the estuary the water was choppy. Wind was OK for a while but then got very gusty going from underpowered to having the bar yanked away in a split second. Improved a bit after high tide and found some nice flat water up by the Leri inlet. Got 27kts over 100m. But then in a lull unhooked by accident and a split second later massive gust had me aloft fully powered. Didn't really see any option but to bail out and the kite came down in the muddy grassy channel ridden muck. Bar vanished up to the bridle and from the resulting mess it was clear the session was over. Time from the GPS was 11.49. Almost exactly 3 hours and 59.7 Km covered. Over 60 if I include the walk back to the car ! Fantastic day with sunshine to boot despite the gusty wind and abrupt ending. :)
